ความรู้และพฤติกรรมการใช้สารเคมีกำจัดศัตรูพืชของคนงานรับจ้างฉีดพ่น

Abstract

การใช้สารเคมีกำจัดศัตรูพืชในประเทศไทยมีแนวโน้มเพิ่มสูงขึ้นและส่งผลต่อสุขภาพของเกษตรกรมายาวนาน เกษตรกรในปัจจุบันได้จ้างกลุ่มคนงานรับจ้างฉีดพ่นสารเคมีเพื่อทำหน้าที่แทน จึงทาให้คนงานรับจ้างฉีดพ่นเป็นอีกหนึ่งกลุ่มอาชีพที่ได้รับความเสี่ยงจากการใช้สารเคมีกำจัดศัตรูพืช การวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงพรรณนาแบบภาคตัดขวางในพื้นที่อำเภอพิชัย จังหวัดอุตรดิตถ์ โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาพฤติกรรมการใช้สารเคมีกำจัดศัตรูพืชและเปรียบเทียบคะแนนพฤติกรรมการใช้สารเคมีกำจัดศัตรูพืชจำแนกตามปัจจัยต่าง ๆ ของคนงานรับจ้างฉีดพ่นหน้าใหม่ที่มีประสบการณ์ทำงานไม่เกิน 10 ปี เก็บข้อมูลจากคนงานรับจ้างฉีดพ่น จานวน 202 คน ด้วยการสัมภาษณ์จากแบบสอบถาม วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลด้วยร้อยละ, independent’s t-test, One-Way ANOVA และ Pearson’s Correlation Coefficient ผลการศึกษาพบว่า คนงานรับจ้างฉีดพ่นมีความรู้ในการใช้สารเคมีกำจัดศัตรูพืชอยู่ในระดับปานกลาง ร้อยละ 63.9 และมีพฤติกรรมในการใช้สารเคมีกำจัดศัตรูพืชอยู่ในระดับปานกลาง ร้อยละ 58.9 ผลการเปรียบเทียบคะแนนพฤติกรรมการใช้สารเคมีกำจัดศัตรูพืชตามปัจจัยต่าง ๆ พบว่า ระดับการศึกษามีผลต่อคะแนนพฤติกรรมการใช้สารเคมีกำจัดศัตรูพืชแตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (p<0.05) ดังนั้นหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องควรจัดอบรมความรู้และสร้างความตระหนักถึงวิธีการใช้งานและการป้องกันตนเองจากสารเคมีกำจัดศัตรูพืช ที่จะส่งผลให้เกิดการปรับเปลี่ยนพฤติกรรมที่เหมาะสมในการใช้สารเคมีกำจัดศัตรูพืชและช่วยลดความเสี่ยงหรือผลกระทบต่อสุขภาพจากการสัมผัสสารเคมีกำจัดศัตรูพืชของคนงานรับจ้างฉีดพ่น

The trend of pesticides uses in Thailand has been rising continuously and has affected the health of agricultural workers for a long time. New-generation agricultural workers decide to hire informal workers to perform the pesticides spraying process instead. Therefore, self-employed pesticide sprayers have become a group of people who were at risk of exposure to the chemicals. This research study was a cross-sectional descriptive study conducted in Phi-chai district, Uttaradit province. The objectives were to study the behavior regarding the use of pesticides and to compare the scores of pesticides use behaviors classified by various factors among self-employed pesticide sprayers whose experiences in spraying were less than 10 years as a new-faced self-employed pesticide sprayers. The data were collected by interviewing using questionnaires from 202 self-employed pesticide sprayers. Data analysis were performed using descriptive statistics, independent’s t-test, One-Way ANOVA and Pearson’s Correlation Coefficient. The study found that the self-employed pesticide sprayers’ knowledge regarding the use of pesticides was in the moderate level (63.9 %) and their behavior regarding the use of pesticides was in the moderate level (58.9 %). The results to compare the scores of pesticides use behaviors classified by various factors showed that the level of education had a significant difference (p<0.05). Therefore, relevant agencies should provide training and raise awareness of pesticide sprayers to use and protect themselves from pesticides which can had them to have an appropriate behavior in the use of pesticides and the reduction of health effects from exposure to pesticides.
