พุทธศาสนากับการดัดแปลงวรรณกรรมเรื่องราโชมอนสู่ภาพยนตร์เรื่องอุโมงค์ผาเมือง

Abstract

บทความเรื่องนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ศึกษาการดัดแปลงเรื่อง “ราโชมอน” ผลงานวรรณกรรมของรีวโนะซุเกะ อะคุตะงะวะ สู่สื่อภาพยนตร์ โดยเฉพาะการดัดแปลงเป็นภาพยนตร์เรื่องอุโมงค์ผาเมืองโดย ม.ล. พันธุ์เทวนพ เทวกุล ที่มีการนำตัวบทเดิมมาดัดแปลงโดยผสมผสานแนวคิดทางพุทธศาสนาและการตีความตัวบทใหม่ ซึ่งแสดงถึงการผลิตซ้ำและการผสานตัวบทเดิมเข้ากับบริบทสังคมร่วมสมัย การดัดแปลงเรื่องราโชมอนสู่ภาพยนตร์อุโมงค์ผาเมืองจึงเป็นตัวอย่างหนึ่งของการนำวรรณกรรมเรื่องเด่นในอดีตมาถ่ายทอดข้ามสื่่อ ข้ามยุคสมัย และข้ามวัฒนธรรม

This article aims at studying the adaptation from Ryūnosuke Akutagawa’s short story Rashomon to one of the greatest Japanese film periods ever made. When Akira Kurosawa’s Rashomon adapted by M. L. Bhandevanop Devekula, the concept of Buddhism was incorporated into the movie remake Umong Pha Mueang (At the Gate of the Ghost, or its alternate name The Outrage) with a new interpretation added to his screenplay. That clearly reflects how the original was reproduced and how it was integrated into the contemporary society. Umong Pha Mueang is, therefore, an example of the reproduction of a great literary work across media, time and culture.
