Wildlife conservation in Thailand: a strategic assessment
Thailand has developed a fine system of national parks and wildlife sanctuaries, but local villagers in most areas do not respect protected area regulations and continue to poach animals and plants and encroach on boundaries. The basic difficulty stems from the uncritical application of Western-style protectionist management policies in a developing tropical country where conservation strategy sorely needs to be integrated with social and economic development. -from Author
