Abstract
© 1999 IEEE. This paper presents the propagation modeling for an 800 MHz cellular mobile system for design of the coverage areas. The model was modified from models of Lee and Hata for appropriate use in the Bangkok area. Having measured the field strengths at 52 locations around Bangkok, we found that the propagation-path loss at 1 mile, L0, is 72.7 dB, and the slope of the path loss, gamma/, is approximately 36.0 dB/dec. The measurements are based on a reference regarding the antenna heights of the base station and receiver at 30 and 3 meters, and with the antenna gains of the base station and receiver at 6 dBdand 0 dBd, respectively.
