พิธีทำขวัญแม่โพสพ วัดเจ้าแปดทรงไตรย์จังหวัดพระนครศรีอยุธยา

Abstract

บทความนี้ มีจุดประสงค์เพื่่อศึกษาวิเคราะห์พิธีทำขวัญแม่โพสพที่วัดเจ้าแปดทรงไตรย์ จังหวัดพระนครศรีอยุธยา โดยจะศึกษาองค์ประกอบต่างๆ ของพิธีกรรมและความสำคัญของพิธีกรรมนี้ ที่่ยังคงดำรงอยู่ในสังคมไทยภาคกลาง จากการศึกษาพบว่าพิธีทำขวัญแม่โพสพน่าจะเป็นพิธีที่คล้ายคลึงกับพิธีทำขวัญยุ้งข้าว ทั้งนี้ เนื่่องจากสภาพสังคมและวิถีชีวิตรวมถึงวิธีการทำนาในปัจจุบันเปลี่ยนไปทำให้ไม่มีพิธีทำขวัญยุ้งข้าวอีกต่อไปแล้ว ทั้งๆ ที่่พิธีดังกล่าวจัดว่าเป็นพิธีที่สำคัญพิธีหนึ่่งที่ช่วยสร้างขวัญกำลังใจให้แก่ชาวนา ชาวบ้านและคณะกรรมการวัดจึงนำแนวคิดของพิธีทำขวัญยุ้งข้าวมาจัดพิธีทำขวัญแม่โพสพขึ้นร่วมกับผ้าป่าข้าวเปลือก เพื่่อให้เป็นโอกาสพิเศษที่ให้ชาวบ้านได้ร่วมกันระลึกถึงบุญคุณของแม่โพสพไปพร้อมกันอีกด้วย นอกจากนี้แล้วช่วงเวลาของการจัดพิธีทำขวัญแม่โพสพ เป็นช่วงที่เพิ่งเก็บเกี่ยวได้ผลผลิตแล้ว ชาวบ้านจึงยินดีที่จะนำข้าวเปลือกมาร่วมกันทำบุญกับทางวัด

This article aims at studying the ritual of calling the soul of the Rice Goddess at Chao Paet Song Trai Temple in Ayutthaya Province. The study focuses on analyzing the element of the ritual and the vital role it still plays on the society in central Thailand. The findings reveal that the ritual of calling the spirit of the Rice Goddess is similar to the ritual of inviting the Rice Goddess to the barn. However, due to changes in social environment, people’s ways of life and rice-farming techniques, the latter is no longer carried out despite the fact that the ritual helps boost spirit and morale of the farmers. Realizing its importance, the temple committee, thus, takes the core concept of the ritual of inviting the Rice Goddess to the barn and organizes the ritual of calling the soul of the Rice Goddess, along with the ritual of rice offering. Because the ritual is held after harvest, this special occasion not only encourages the community people to be thankful to the Rice Goddess but also allows them to offer their rice to the temple as a means of merit-making.
