Rotary blood pumps are increasingly used for supporting blood circulation in heart failure patients. For the simulation of an abstract model of a cardiovascular system, a computer simulation which is a lumped parameter model can be used. Computer simulations are essential in mathematical modeling to estimate the hemodynamic parameters. In this research, a computer model is implemented to study the possibilities for indirect estimation of hemodynamic parameters and pump control of the heart. The model parameters are grossly estimated in terms of the physiological range or the order of magnitude for the parameter value and fine turned in the dynamic situations. The model parameters are iteratively adjusted within their physiological ranges while the resulting pressure waveforms in the entire system are monitored. Aortic pressure, left ventricular pressure and central venous pressure are measured. Identification of the model parameter values are derived from the literatures. Nowadays, medical simulations are widely and currently used in research, development of tools for new therapies, treatments and early diagnosis in medical fields. The models of this research will be useful not only in teaching of therapeutic and diagnostic procedures but also in obtaining medical concepts and decision making of health professionals. © 2013 IEEE.en_US
