Study on rubella immunization in Thailand. I. Antibody response of females to a live attenuated vaccine (Cendehill strain)
380 susceptible females in Bangkok, aging from 1 to 39 years old, were vaccinated with a live attenuated rubella vaccine of Cendehill strain during 1970 and 1971. The seroconversion rate was 100% in 102 children below 14 years old, and 93% in the older age group. The GM titer of antibody response as tested by HAI method was 1:37 in the former and 1:30 in the latter. The overall conversion was 95% with the GM titer of 1:32. The protective efficacy, recommendation and contraindication of the rubella immunization are also discussed.
