dc.description.abstract© 2014 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved. Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome, which is commonly encountered in association with various medical conditions including systemic lupus erythematosus, is an uncommon cause of alteration of consciousness. However, failure to diagnose this condition can lead to permanent neurologic deficits. We report a case of 51-year-old woman who presented with altered mental status and was subsequently diagnosed with this syndrome.en_US
