Abstract
© 2018 IEEE. Disk storage space is necessary for everyone who uses computer. The demand for the storage space of each individual can vary across different type of usage over time. Typically, a non-Technical person will need smaller amount of storage space than a computer technician. However, there are times that an individual will need a large amount of storage space. For example, the demand of temporary large disk space for computer back-up before a routine system upgrade. Current free online storage options usually cannot meet this demand. These offerings do not meet some customers' demand for temporary system backup/restoration and short-Term data analytic. At the same time, we have some users who sit on a large amount of disk storage at home. Their daily activities may not need a large amount of storage. Hence, we developed Cirrus application as a platform that allow users who have unused storage space to share a portion of their storage to people who need it. Cirrus implements its own cryptocurrency or credits which will be provided to storage providers who offer storage space for certain duration. Storage consumers can buy storage space through Cirrus depending on the current market price of the storage space set by storage providers. Cirrus will become a storage marketplace which give opportunities for anyone to earn income and also follow sufficiency economy principle by efficiently using the unused space to help people who need storage. Cirrus uses the concept of network file systems and peer-To-peer file sharing for storing data files across the network.
