dc.description.abstract© 2003 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. This chapter presents a study which discusses the safety of drinking water in primary schools. The purpose of this study is to determine if the oocysts of Cryptosporidium are present in water provided to primary schools in Bangkok. Water samples from 54 schools were investigated for Cryptosporidium by filtration, centrifugation, and modified acid fast staining. Four different water treatment plants produced an equal quality level of treated water for these 54 individual schools. The results of the study indicate that Cryptosporidium oocysts were observed in 11.76% of the 34 schools serviced by the Bangkhaen water treatment plant with a mean of 1.17 oocysts/L.en_US
