A study of the relationship between hookworm burden and anemia was carried out in 87 outpatients whose feces were positive for hookworm ova. In 70 cases (80%) the worm burden was related to anemia, but in 17 cases (19.5%) there was no such relation, probably because the patients had other causes of anemia beside hookworm infestation.en_US
