Abstract
Partially purified G-6-PD from a deficient Karen living in the northern part of Thailand showed slightly slow electrophoretic mobility, a slightly biphasic pH curve, and normal heat stability. The erythrocyte G-6-PD activity was 10.4% of normal. The enzyme did not use 2-deoxyG-6-P, galactose-6-phosphate, and DPN as cofactor. DeaminoTPN utilization was 40.7% that of TPN. Michaelis constants for G-6-P and TPN were 70 and 2.1 μM respectively. This new G-6-PD variant is named G-6-PD Intanon after the name of the mountain on which the subject lived. © 1974 Springer-Verlag.
