การศึกษาเปรียบเทียบข้อมูลการจัดซื้อและการใช้หนังสือของห้องสมุด คณะพยาบาลศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล

Abstract

การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาเปรียบเทียบข้อมูลจำนวนหนังสือที่จัดซื้อระหว่างเดือนตุลาคม 2553 – กันยายน 2556 และความถี่ในการใช้หนังสือ กับอัตราการใช้หนังสือต่อเล่มของห้องสมุดคณะพยาบาลศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล คณะผู้วิจัยได้รวบรวมข้อมูลการจัดซื้อหนังสือจากสมุดลงทะเบียนหนังสือ รวมทั้งศึกษาความถี่ ในการใช้หนังสือ โดยสำรวจข้อมูลสถิติการยืมจากระบบห้องสมุดอัตโนมัติ INNOPAC Millennium และสำรวจสถิติ การยืมในบัตรกำหนดส่งในเล่มหนังสือบนชั้น เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการเก็บข้อมูลวิจัย ได้แก่ แบบบันทึกข้อมูลต่าง ๆ เกี่ยวกับการจัดซื้อและความถี่ในการใช้หนังสือ วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลวิจัยทางสถิติโดยการหาค่าร้อยละ และอัตราการใช้ หนังสือต่อเล่ม ระหว่างเดือนตุลาคม 2553 – กันยายน 2556 ห้องสมุดจัดซื้อหนังสือภาษาไทยมากกว่าหนังสือภาษา ต่างประเทศจำนวน 1,032 เล่ม หรือคิดเป็นร้อยละ 56.46 หนังสือภาษาไทยมีอัตราการใช้ต่อเล่มใกล้เคียงกับ หนังสือภาษาต่างประเทศ คือ หนังสือภาษาไทยมีอัตราการใช้ 8.42 ครั้งต่อเล่ม และหนังสือภาษาต่างประเทศมี อัตราการใช้ 7.78 ครั้งต่อเล่ม ห้องสมุดจัดซื้อหนังสือภาษาไทยและภาษาอังกฤษในสาขาวิชาวิทยาศาสตร์การแพทย์ จำนวนมากที่สุด แต่หนังสือภาษาไทยและภาษาอังกฤษที่มีความถี่ในการใช้มากที่สุดคือหนังสือในสาขาวิชาการ พยาบาลผู้ป่วยเฉพาะโรคต่าง ๆ การวิจัยนี้พบว่า หนังสือที่มีอัตราการใช้ต่อเล่มสูง ส่วนใหญ่ไม่ใช่หนังสือที่มีการ จัดซื้อจำนวนมาก เช่น หนังสือภาษาไทยหมวด WY150 เทคนิคการพยาบาลผู้ป่ วยเฉพาะโรค มีอัตราการใช้จำนวน สูงสุด 33 ครั้งต่อเล่ม แต่มีจำนวนการจัดซื้อเพียง 19 เล่ม งานวิจัยนี้มีข้อเสนอแนะว่า ห้องสมุดควรมีการ ประชาสัมพันธ์และส่งเสริมให้ผู้รับบริการเพิ่มการใช้หนังสือภาษาต่างประเทศให้มากขึ้น โดยเฉพาะเมื่อพบว่า หนังสือตำราในหัวข้อที่สนใจมีการตีพิมพ์เป็นภาษาไทยจำนวนน้อย ก็ควรจะใช้ตำราต่างประเทศซึ่งมีเนื้อหาความรู้ที่ ผู้ใช้บริการต้องการเช่นเดียวกัน และเพื่อให้เกิดความคุ้มค่า คุ้มทุนในการจัดซื้อหนังสือของห้องสมุด

The objective of this research was to compare book purchases and the frequency of book usage for texts that were checked out at the Faculty of Nursing Library, Mahidol University. Data were collected mainly from the registration book, data record form, the record from automated library system INNOPAC Millennium and the date due card of each book. Percentage and the borrowing rate of each book were used to analyze the data. The result showed that during the fiscal year 2010-2012, the library bought much more Thai books than English books. More specifically, there were 1,032 more Thai copies (56.46 percent). The borrowing rate of each Thai book was similar to the borrowing rate of each English book, with a rate of 8.42 and 7.78 times per item, respectively. The subject for which the library bought the largest quantities of books was medical sciences. But the subject that had the highest borrowing rate per each book was nursing in special fields of medicine. Most of the books that had the high borrowing rate were not in the category of books for which the library bought the large quantities. For example, the book in section WY 150 nursing in special fields of medicine had the highest borrowing rate at 33 times per item, but the library bought only 19 copies. The results suggest that the library staff should motivate the library users to use English books, especially in the subjects of books that were published in English language more than those in Thai Language, to get updated knowledge as needed, and for the cost effectiveness of library book purchase.
