The effect of the replacement of strontium ions by lithium ions on the Tcs of liquid-nitrogen-quenched "2212" bismuth superconductors processed at 700°C is studied. As is the case for the exchange of cooper ions by lithium ions, the Li/Sr exchange produces a linear (with respect to the amount of Li substitution) increase in the Tcs. The similarity between the increases for the Li/Cu and Li/Sr exchanges points to the increases in the Tcs being due to the effects of hole creation resulting from the non-isovalent ionic substitutions. © 1991.en_US
