Two directly compressible sorbitol samples from different manufacturers were evaluated with respect to compressibility, lubriclty, and fluldity. Photomicrographs obtained from a scannlng electron microscope reveal that surfaces of one sample comprise mlcrocrystals whlch give rise to large surface area and surface roughness. ln general, such sample exhlblted poorer flow, better compresslbility, and required more lubricant than did another sample.
