Abstract
The management of diabetic foot complications is undergoing a profound paradigm shift, transitioning from a reactive fragmented approach to a preventive, personalized, and proactive one. This evolution necessitates multidisciplinary collaboration among clinical experts, material scientists, biomechanical innovators, and technologists. A team-based approach is considered mandatory and effective that can reduce ulcer recurrence rates. Technologies like CAD/CAM and AI facilitates rapid, tailored insole design and modification based on plantar pressure mapping data. Furthermore, integrating structured exercise and rehabilitation, such as flexibility and balance training, alongside custom-made insole can diminish ulcer recurrence. Future protocols must incorporate these modalities with emerging technologies including virtual gait training enhancing monitoring. Despite these technological strides, disparities in accessing care persist globally, particularly in resource-limited regions. Bridging knowledge gaps among clinicians regarding these technologies and fostering interdisciplinary care are crucial step forward. Diabetic foot care is moving toward a proactive frontier focused on restoring function and dignity.
