Abstract
This study aims to determine emission of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) from Saen Saeb canal and to assess concentration and dispersion of H2S using AERMOD model, as well as to estimate the potential effect on human health over a lifetime of exposure to hydrogen sulfide. The results of the study showed that the emission value of H2S was 3.74 × 10-3 g/s under the scenario of having boat operation and was 1.21 ×10-3 g/s under the scenario of without boat operation. These emission values were then used to estimate H2S concentrations using the AERMOD dispersion model. Results of the study showed that H2S concentrations under the scenario with 24 and 14 hours canal-boat operation were about 67.6% and 67.5% higher than that scenario without canal-boat operation, respectively. In addition, results from the health risk assessment showed that people living and working in the area may be exposed to health risks. The data from this study can be used as a guideline for managing the quality of Saen Saeb Canal and for further study in the future. It can also be used to avoid risks that may be harmful to health from inhalation exposure.
การศึกษาครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อกำหนดค่าการระบายไฮโดรเจนซัลไฟด์ (H2S) จากคลองแสนแสบและเพื่อประเมินความเข้มข้นและการกระจายตัวของ H2S โดยใช้แบบจำลอง AERMOD ตลอดจนประเมินผลกระทบที่อาจเกิดขึ้นต่อสุขภาพของมนุษย์ตลอดช่วงเวลาที่สัมผัสกับ H2S ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ค่าการระบายของ H2S เท่ากับ 3.74 × 10-3 g/s สำหรับการเดินเรือในคลองและไม่มีการเดินเรือในคลองเท่ากับ 1.21 × 10-3 g/s ค่าการระบายนี้ถูกใช้เพื่อประเมินความเข้มข้น โดยใช้ข้อมูลอุตุนิยมวิทยาจากสถานีดอนเมือง พ.ศ. 2554 ผลการศึกษาพบว่าความเข้มข้นในสถานการณ์ที่มีการเดินเรือ 24 และ 14 ชั่วโมงสูงกว่า สถานการณ์ที่ไม่มีการเดินเรือในคลองคิดเป็นร้อยละ 67.6 และ 67.5 ตามลำดับ นอกจากนี้ผลจากการประเมินความเสี่ยงต่อสุขภาพพบว่า ผู้คนที่อาศัยและทำงานในพื้นที่อาจมีความเสี่ยงต่อสุขภาพ ข้อมูลจากการศึกษาครั้งนี้สามารถใช้เป็นแนวทางในการจัดการคุณภาพของคลองแสนแสบและการศึกษาต่อไปในอนาคต นอกจากนี้ยังสามารถใช้เพื่อหลีกเลี่ยงความเสี่ยงที่อาจเป็นอันตรายต่อสุขภาพจากการสัมผัส โดยการสูดดม
