Abstract
This research aims to investigate the relationship between self-compassion with psychological well-being and life satisfaction among elderly people. Participants of this study were 325 elderly people who were 60 years old and above and who continuously attended The Quality of Life Development Center for the Elderly in Nonthaburi Municipality, completed self-report measures of self-compassion and psychological well-being and life satisfaction. Descriptive statistics, pearson correlation and simple linear regression were used for data analysis. This study found that there was a significant correlation between selfcompassion, psychological well-being and life satisfaction at p < 0.01. The strongest relationship was self-compassion and psychological well-being (r = 0.563) and the lowest relationship was self-compassion and life satisfaction (r = 0.277). This study found that self-compassion could predict all 6 dimensions of psychological well-being and life satisfaction with the highest prediction of 31.7% in psychological well-being and the lowest prediction of 7.7% in life satisfaction. Self-compassion had a significant correlation with psychological wellbeing and life satisfaction in the elderly and self-compassion was predictive of psychological well-being and life satisfaction. There were still other factors besides self-compassion that could predict psychological well-being and life satisfaction
งานวิจัยนี้เป็นศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างความเมตตากรุณาต่อตนเองกับสุขภาวะทางจิตและความพึงพอใจในชีวิตในกลุ่มผู้สูงอายุ โดยกลุ่มตัวอย่างคือผู้สูงอายุที่มาใช้บริการศูนย์พัฒนาคุณภาพชีวิตผู้สูงอายุ เทศบาลนครนนทบุรี จำนวน 325 คน เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลด้วยมาตรวัดความเมตตากรุณาต่อตนเอง มาตรวัดสุขภาวะทางจิต และแบบวัดความพึงพอใจในชีวิต วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลด้วยสถิติเชิงพรรณนาและสถิติเชิงอนุมาน โดยใช้วิธีการหาค่าสหสัมพันธ์ของเพียร์สัน (Pearson's Product Moment Correlation Coefficient) และการวิเคราะห์การถดถอยเชิงเส้นอย่างง่าย (Simple Linear Regression Analysis) ผลการวิจัยพบว่าความเมตตากรุณาต่อตนเองมีความสัมพันธ์เชิงบวกกับตัวแปรสุขภาวะทางจิตและความพึงพอใจในชีวิตอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (p<0.01) ตัวแปรคู่ที่มีความสัมพันธ์กันสูงสุด คือความเมตตากรุณาต่อตนเองและสุขภาวะทางจิต (r= 0.563) ส่วนตัวแปรคู่ที่มีความสัมพันธ์กันต่ำสุด คือความเมตตากรุณาต่อตนเองและความพึงพอใจในชีวิต (r=0.277) และใน วิเคราะห์การถดถอยเชิงเส้นอย่างง่าย (simple linear regression) พบว่าความเมตตากรุณาต่อตนเองสามารถพยากรณ์ต่อสุขภาวะทางจิตและความพึงพอใจในชีวิต โดยมีอำนาจพยากรณ์สูงสุด 31.7% ในการพยากรณ์สุขภาวทางจิตและอำนาจพยากรณ์ต่ำสุด 7.7% ในการพยากรณ์ความพึงพอใจในชีวิต
