Gunshot causes tissue damages by disrupting the tissue, through bleeding, and by permitting entrance of infection. The mechanism of tissue injuries is mixed, blunt, and penetrating trauma injuries. For penetrating trauma, destruction of flesh tissue is due to passing of the bullet through it and the large amount of kinetic energy transferred to the tissue. A high-velocity bullet causes more tissue damage than a low-velocity bullet. The management should include lifesaving, thorough history taking and physical examination and local wound care.
