Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to analyze, design and develop a computerized system for the out-patient medical records system (OMRS), which is the primary information system in health service. Banpho hospital in Chachoengsao province was selected to be the model of the study. The system was developed from the operating procedure and data collected from the out-patient department (OPD) based on a standard data set. The research used the Object-Oriented Software Engineering (OOSE) of Ivan Jacobson, which is a use cases driven approach. By this concept, developer and user have the same view of the system. The OMRS is divided into 5 parts: patient registration by out-patient register, patient screening by an investigation of previous and present illness, patient examination and treatments, patient accounting by out-patient finance and billing and the drug distribution to out-patient. The application software was constructed in C++ Builder 4.0, which supports Object-Oriented programming and graphic user interface. The OMRS runs on Local Area Network (LAN) by installing the application program on the clients and database file on the server. Banpho hospital officers did the system testing, they concluded that the OMRS was useful in operation of health service and data reporting. Also, it reduces the problem of redundancy in the recording of the patient's profile data. The OMRS facilities out-patient service operation and management transaction of the organization. Furthermore, this research will serve as a guideline in the future system development with Object-Oriented technology.
