ภาวะสุขภาพจิตของผู้สูงอายุที่ทำงานกับไม่ได้ทำงาน

Abstract

The objectives of this study are to study mental health of working and non-working elderly in Kanchanaburi factors which affecting their mental health and suggestions to support elderly mental health. The study used secondary data from The Demographic, Socioeconomic, Cultural Surveillance and Long Term Care for the Well-being of Thai Elderly in 2011 which was conducted by the Institute for Population and Social Research, Mahidol University. The population sample consisted of 4,424 elderly persons aged 60 years and above. The analysis used descriptive statistic and Multiple Regression. The findings show that most elderly have moderate level of mental capacity and mental quality. Although working status has no significant relation to mental health, there are a number of factors which influence mental capacity, and mental quality of working and nonworking's elderly. Self-assessment on health, adequacy of income, and participation in social activities are the only three factors that have influence all the elderly in the sample group. Policy-oriented recommendations are as follows: 1) encouraging and providing knowledge to people regarding financial preparation during their earlier ages, 2) supporting social activities in which the elderly can participate in the community, 3) providing work opportunities for elderly to engage in with appropriate income.
