การแปลภาพยนตร์สั้นชุด Memories on a Plate จากภาษาอังกฤษเป็นภาษาไทย

Abstract

งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อประมวลความรู้ด้านการแปลมาปรับใช้ในการแปลภาพยนตร์สั้นชุด "Memories on a Plate" (2018) จำนวน 3 ตอน กํากับการแสดงโดย ยิกิน เอิง (Yiqin Ng) งานวิจัยนี้เป็นงานวิจัยกึ่งทดลอง (Quasi Experimental Research) ผู้วิจัยได้แปลบทสนทนาในรูปแบบบทบรรยายภาพยนตร์ (subtitles) ด้วยตนเอง โดยใช้กรอบแนวคิดด้านการแปลภาพยนตร์ของดีแอซ ซินทาซ และเรมาแอล (Diaz Cintas & Remael, 2007) สัญฉวี สายบัว (2550) และแนวคิดด้านการแปลระหว่างวัฒนธรรมของ ฮาเวียร์ ฟรังโก ไอซีล่า (Javier Franco Aixela, 1996) เป็นแนวทางในการแปล และแก้ไขปัญหาการแปลที่พบ โดยผู้วิจัยได้จำแนกปัญหาออกเป็น 3 ด้าน คือ 1) ปัญหาด้านภาษา 2) ปัญหาด้านวัฒนธรรม และ 3) ปัญหาด้านเทคนิค ผลการศึกษาในการแปลภาพยนตร์สั้นชุดนี้ ผู้วิจัยใช้กลวิธีการแปลทั้งหมดจำนวน 6 กลวิธีดังนี้ 1) การปรับบท (ร้อยละ 48.53) 2) การผสานกลวิธี (ร้อยละ 16.18) 3) การถ่ายทอดตัวอักษร (ร้อยละ 14.71) 4) การย่อความ (ร้อยละ 11.76) 5) การละข้อความ (ร้อยละ 5.88) และ 6) การแปลเนื้อหาโดยตรง (ร้อยละ 2.94) กลวิธีที่ผู้วิจัยใช้มากที่สุดในการแปลภาพยนตร์เรื่องนี้คือการปรับบท ซึ่งสอดคล้องกับการแก้ไขปัญหาด้านเทคนิคที่ผู้วิจัยได้ใช้กลวิธีการย่อความมากที่สุด เพื่อให้ข้อความกระชับขึ้น อันส่งผลให้บทบรรยายโดยรวมเหมาะสมกับจำนวนตัวอักษรและระยะเวลาของบทบรรยายที่จะปรากฏบนจอภาพยนตร์

The purpose of this research was to compile the translation knowledge to translate three episodes of the short film "Memories on a Plate" (2018), directed by Yiqin Ng. This research was a Quasi Experimental Research by which the translator translated the dialogues and produced subtitles by himself using the film translation concepts of Diaz Cintas (2007), Sanchawee Saibua (2007) and the intercultural translation concepts of Javier Franco Aixela (1996) as a means to translate and resolve the problems found. The researcher classified the translation problems into three types: 1) Language problems 2) Cultural problems and 3) Technical problems. According to the results of this translation study, the researcher used six translation strategies: 1) Editing (48.53%), 2) Integration (16.18%), 3) Literal translation (14.71%), 4) Summarizing (11.76%), 5) Deletion (5.88%), and 6) Intratextual gloss (2.94%). The strategy used the most in translating these movies was editing, and the strategy most frequently used for resolving technical problems was the summarizing strategy, which was used to shorten the translated subtitles to fit the number of characters and time available on screen.
