Media and information literacy survey in Bangkok

Abstract

The purposes of this thematic paper were to survey media and information literacy (MIL) and digital literacy (DL) in Bangkok, to compare media and information literacy (MIL), classified by demographic characteristics, and to study the relationship between various competencies affecting digital literacy (DL) and media and information literacy (MIL) for further collection and organization of essential information for promoting, supporting, and developing people’s perception of all kinds of media and information literacy, and to analyze the media reasonably and morally. The tools that were used for data collection were online questionnaires via social media. The results of the thematic paper revealed that the status of media and information literacy (MIL) of Bangkok people was at a good level. Their skills and competencies in media and information literacy and digital literacy for digital communication were appropriate. However, there are some issues that require further development, namely: digital law competence. In addition, people with different gender, age, and educational levels had different media and information literacy (MIL), and digital literacy (DL).

สารนิพนธ์นี้มีจุดมุ่งหมายเพื่อสำรวจสถานภาพการรู้เท่าทันสื่อและสารสนเทศ (Media And Information Literacy : MIL) การเข้าใจดิจิทัล (Digital Literacy : DL) ในเขตกรุงเทพมหานคร และเพื่อเปรียบเทียบลักษณะของประชากรและการรู้เท่าทันสื่อและสารสนเทศ และเพื่อศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ของสมรรถนะต่างๆ ที่มีผลต่อการเข้าใจดิจิทัลและการรู้เท่าทันสื่อและสารสนเทศเพื่อจัดเก็บข้อมูลที่สำคัญและจำเป็นต่อการส่งเสริม สนับสนุน และพัฒนาให้ประชาชนมีความรู้เท่าทันสื่อและสารสนเทศในทุกรูปแบบ สามารถใช้เครื่องมือต่างๆ ได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ มีการคิดวิเคราะห์สื่ออย่างมีวิจารณญาณ และมีจริยธรรม เครื่องมือที่นำมาใช้ในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลครั้งนี้จะใช้แบบสอบถามออนไลน์ โดยประชาสัมพันธ์แบบสอบถามออนไลน์ผ่านทางโซเชียลมีเดีย ผลการวิจัยพบว่า สถานภาพการรู้เท่าทันสื่อและสารสนเทศของประชาชนในเขตกรุงเทพมหานคร มีสถานภาพการรู้เท่าทันสื่อและสารสนเทศ และสถานภาพการเข้าใจดิจิทัล ในระดับดี ซึ่งมีทักษะและสามารถสื่อสารผ่านทางสื่อดิจิทัลได้อย่างเหมาะสม แต่ยังมีบางประเด็นที่จะต้องพัฒนา คือ สมรรถนะด้านกฎหมายดิจิทัล (Digital Law) รวมทั้งพบว่าลักษณะของประชากรคือ เพศ ช่วงอายุ ระดับการศึกษา ที่มีความแตกต่างกันส่งผลต่อการการรู้เท่าทันสื่อและสารสนเทศและการเข้าใจดิจิทัลของประชาชนในเขตกรุงเทพมหานคร
