Chronic limb-threatening ischemia is a significant clinical challenge associated with high morbidity and mortality rates, increased health-care costs, and declines in patient quality of life. Endovascular interventions demonstrate promising clinical results and are increasingly utilized to treat severe infrapopliteal and below-the-ankle (BTA) arterial disease. Several techniques, including pedal access, transcollateral recanalization, and pedal-plantar loop procedures, have improved the success of BTA revascularization. A wire exteriorization via the wound (WE-wound) method is proposed for recanalizing the BTA lesion. The present study reports 9 cases in which the WE-wound technique was performed, achieving a 100% technical success rate and successful limb salvage.
