การทำแฟนซับภาษาไทย : กรณีศึกษาละครชุดเรื่อง “มหาศึกชิงบัลลังก์” (ปี 6)

Abstract

งานวิจัยนี้ใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์ดังนี้ 1) เพื่อศึกษาวิวัฒนาการของแฟนซับในประเทศไทย และ 2) เพื่อศึกษากลวิธีการแปลที่ใช้ในการทำบทบรรยายใต้ภาพฉบับแปลภาษาไทยโดยกลุ่มแฟนซับของละครชุดเรื่อง “มหาศึกชิงบัลลังก์” ปี 6 โดยศึกษาจากการสัมภาษณ์นักวิชาการพาณิชย์ชำนาญการ กรมทรัพย์สินทางปัญญา กระทรวงพาณิชย์ และกลุ่มแฟนซับ และจากการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลบทบรรยายใต้ภาพฉบับภาษาไทยโดยแฟนซับจากละครชุดเรื่อง “มหาศึกชิงบัลลังก์” (ปี 6) จำนวน 3 ตอน โดยใช้แนวคิดด้านการแปลบทบรรยายใต้ภาพของ Jorge Díaz-Cintas และ Pablo Muñoz Sánchez (2006) แนวคิดด้านการแปลเทียบเคียงของ Peter Newmark (1988) และแนวคิดโพรซูเมอร์ (Prosumer) ของ Alvin Toffler (1990) เป็นแนวทางตามลำดับ ผลการศึกษาพบว่า การทำแฟนซับในประเทศไทยมีจุดเริ่มต้นในช่วงปี พ.ศ. 2547-2548 หลังจากนั้นมีการเติบโตขึ้นอย่างต่อเนื่องและมีแนวโน้มจะเพิ่มขึ้นในอนาคต แต่การทำแฟนซับยังถือเป็นเรื่องที่ผิดกฎหมายว่าด้วยลิขสิทธิ์ในประเทศไทย นอกจากนี้ ผลการศึกษาพบว่ามีกลุ่มผู้ที่ชื่นชอบละครชุดที่จากเดิมเป็นเพียงผู้บริโภคได้ผันตัวมาเป็นโพรซูเมอร์ด้วยปัจจัยของเวลาและคุณภาพ และแนวโน้มของการเป็นโพรซูเมอร์มีการเติบโตขึ้นเช่นกัน ผลการวิเคราะห์กลวิธีที่แฟนซับใช้ในการจัดทำบทบรรยายใต้ภาพฉบับภาษาไทยมี 4 กลวิธี โดยเรียงลำดับจากกลวิธีที่ใช้มากที่สุด ได้แก่ 1) การแปลแบบตรงตัว (49.63%) 2) การแปลแบบดัดแปลง (24.38%) 3) การแปลแบบคำต่อคำ (13.43%) และ 4) การแปลแบบเอาความ (12.56%)

This qualitative study aims to explore 1) an overview of fansubbing in Thailand and 2) the Thai fansubbing translation techniques of the TV series “Game of Thrones,” Season 6. The data was collected through interviews with a professional level trade officer at the Department of Intellectual Property, Ministry of Commerce, and informants representing fansubbers. An analysis of Thai fansubtitles of three episodes of “Game of Thrones,” Season 6, is based on the theoretical frameworks of subtitling by Jorge Díaz-Cintas and Pablo Muñoz Sánchez (2006), the translation equivalence notions of Newmark (1988), and Alvin Toffler’s (1990) prosumer concept. The study results indicate that fansubbing in Thailand did not begin until the period between 2004 and 2005, and previous and current trends show that fansubbing will continue to grow despite its illegality in Thailand. Moreover, the results indicate that many consumers become prosumers due to time and quality factors, and this trend will continue to grow. According to the fan subtitles data analysis, the four translation techniques most frequently used by fansubbers were 1) literal translation (49.63%), 2) adaptation (24.38%), 3) word-for-word translation (13.43%), and 4) free translation (12.56%).
