Mathematical programming for the efficient allocation of health care resources : a case study of Bamrasnaradura Institute, Thailand

Abstract

Nowadays, many decisions are made in order to obtain the most profits. On the other hand, hospitals also need the best decisions for efficient operation. This thesis studied a mathematic model which concerns cost-benefits in terms of cost and profit for Bamrasdaradura Institute, Thailand. The study created a linear programming (L-P) model of cost-profit. The study formulated the LP-problem by simplex method and LINGO 11.0. The results show that maximum profit is 1,634,464 baht. The study analysed results and sensitivity of the LP-problem by changing capacity time and income of activities and found that, in some activities, increasing capacity time and income will increase total profit.
