dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this survey research was to find the level and explore the factors influencing work engagement (WE), organizational commitment (OC) and intention to quit (ITQ) among pharmacists. The sample consisted of 410 pharmacists who have worked in hospitals under the Office of the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Public Health. Survey questionnaire was used in data collection. The results indicated that pharmacists in public hospitals had high level of overall work engagement. On the contrary organizational commitment and intention to quit were moderate. Pharmacists had moderate level of vigor, high dedication and absorption. They had moderate level of affective, continuance and normative commitment. The factors that predicted work engagement were the potential of personnel, number of duties, job and preference match and position. Age affected the organizational commitment positively. Intention to quit was influenced by workplace location, job and preference match, type of hospital and organization tenure. Therefore, the results point that socio-demographic, organization factors and work characteristics should be considered in order to enhance WE, OC and reduce ITQ among pharmacists in hospitals under the Office of the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Public Health.
