E-learning for fire hazard education in multi story building in metaverse

Abstract

Nowadays, people have started to become more aware of the danger of fire accidents than in the past because many accidents have happened recently. To prepare for and prevent fire accidents, people need to be educated properly. This study intended to use the Metaverse as an application to instruct participants on the essential information needed to prepare for and prevent fire accidents in multi-story buildings. The participants of this study are those living or working in multi-story buildings. Participants were educated in the Metaverse, specifically Second Life, and then completed a questionnaire after the lesson was finished. The experiment results turned out as expected beforehand, with the majority of the participants agreeing with the questionnaire items. Some participants disagreed, but that was also predicted. Most of the participants suggested that the lecture should be a simulation, which would help enhance the enthusiasm of the participants; however, that was not possible due to the time required to prepare such a simulation. Therefore, the overall results from the participants show the possibilities of using the Metaverse as an educational tool. IMPLICATION OF THE THEMATIC PAPER: Further study could be conducted using simulations, as suggested by the respondents of this research, because it would likely increase the enthusiasm of the participants during the lecture. It can also be used as a reference for other relevant research studies to develop more efficient sessions in the future.

ในปัจจุบันนี้ผู้คนเริ่มตระหนักได้ถึงอันตรายของอัคคีภัยมากยิ่งขึ้นกว่าที่เคยเป็นในอดีต เนื่องมาจากว่าได้มีการเกิดเหตุเพลิงไหม้เป็นอย่างมากในช่วงเวลานี้ เพื่อเป็นการเตรียมตัวและป้องกันเหตุอัคคีภัย คนทุกคนต้องได้รับการอบรมอย่างถูกต้องเหมาะสม การศึกษานี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อใช้เมตาเวิร์สเป็นสื่อกลางในการเรียนการสอนผู้เข้าร่วมถึงข้อมูลที่มีความจำเป็นเพื่อจะได้เตรียมตัวรับมือและป้องกันอัคคีภัยบนอาคารหลายชั้นได้ โดยที่ผู้เข้าร่วมการศึกษานี้จะต้องอยู่อาศัยหรือทำงานบนอาคารหลายชั้น จะมีการใช้เมตาเวิร์สที่มีชื่อว่า Second Life ในการให้ความรู้กับผู้เข้าร่วม จากนั้นจะมีการทำแบบสอบถามหลังเสร็จสิ้นการเรียนการสอน ผลการทดลองเป็นไปตามที่คาดการณ์เอาไว้ล่วงหน้า โดยผู้เข้าร่วมส่วนใหญ่แสดงความเห็นด้วยกับแบบสอบถาม ถึงจะมีผู้เข้าร่วมบางส่วนที่ไม่เห็นด้วยแต่นั่นก็ถูกคาดการณ์เอาไว้แล้ว ผู้เข้าร่วมส่วนใหญ่เสนอความคิดเห็นว่าการบรรยายควรเป็นแบบการจำลองสถานการณ์ซึ่งจะช่วยเพิ่มความกระตือรือร้นของผู้เข้าร่วมได้ แต่เรื่องนั้นเป็นไปไม่ได้เนื่องจากต้องใช้เวลาในการเตรียมการจำลองอย่างมาก ถึงอย่างนั้นผลลัพธ์โดยรวมจากผู้เข้าร่วมก็แสดงให้เห็นถึงความเป็นไปได้ในการใช้ Metaverse เป็นเครื่องมือในการศึกษา การนำผลของสารนิพนธ์ไปใช้ การศึกษาวิจัยเพิ่มเติมสามารถทำได้โดยใช้การจำลองสถานการณ์ตามข้อเสนอแนะของผู้เข้าร่วมงานวิจัยนี้ เพราะน่าจะทำให้ผู้เข้าร่วมฟังบรรยายมีความกระตือรือร้นมากขึ้นได้ นอกจากนี้ยังสามารถใช้เป็นข้อมูลอ้างอิงสำหรับการศึกษาวิจัยอื่น ๆ ที่เกี่ยวข้องเพื่อพัฒนาให้มีประสิทธิภาพมากขึ้นในอนาคตได้
