Abstract
The objectives of this study were to investigate the effect on polymer content and sand/cement ratio of grout and preplaced aggregate concrete (PAC). The specimens were proportioned by varying the sand/cement (S/C) ratio in the range of 0.5 to 1% by volume and varying the styrene butadiene rubber emulsion of 9%, 12%, and 15% by weight of cement. The fresh properties namely flow cone, mini-slump, and bleeding test of grout were conducted. The elastic modulus test of PAC was measured at 28 days. The compressive strength and drying shrinkage tests were performed up to 56 days. Results showed that increasing SBR content were found to decrease the compressive strength, drying shrinkage, and modulus of elasticity of PAC. On the contrary, the workability of grout was found to increase with increasing SBR content in the mixture. Increasing the S/C ratio exhibited higher compressive strength of PAC because of high void content from grout filling process in the specimen. The flowability was found to reduce with increasing S/C ratio. In addition, S/C ratio had no significant effect on drying shrinkage and elastic modulus.
