Analysis and design of a material database system : a case study, Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University

Abstract

Regarding the existing manual inventory system of the Engineering School which creates many problems either from the transmission process or inexperienced staff, a computer based system has been introduced to solve those problems. With the combination of using a computer and the Active Server Page and Database system, the introduction of web browser has been on practice enabling us to change and correct the whole system of the inventory system. All information will be stored at Microsoft SQL Server 7.0, while using browser as front end to interact with the server. This new system will allow us to work more effectively, while at the same time reducing the personnel problem and leading us to a paperless organization. Moreover, this new system will also allow the connection to other systems in the future.
