The development of computer-assisted instruction on database design for Rajabhat Institute students

Abstract

This research aimed to develop a CAI program on Database Design for Rajabhat Institute students and to find the efficiency of the developed program by comparing the learning achievement of students learning with the CAI program. Also, by comparing to normal teaching as well as examining students' opinion towards this developped CAI program. The population in the research were 58 junior students in the Computer Science Program at Rajabhat Institute, Nakhonsawan. They were divided into an experimental group and controlled group, respectively. The former group learned with the CAI program while the latter learned with normal teaching. All subjects took pretest and posttest examinations. Only students in the experimental group were requested to fill in the questionnaires. The scores of the tests and that of the questionnaires were analyzed. The results of the study indicated that the efficiency of the CAI program on the Database Design for Rajabhat Institute students was 83.10/88.16. Learning achievement of students with the CAI program was not significantly higher than that of students with normal teaching at 0.05 level. From the questionnaire evaluation, students possessed positive opinions and satisfactions in learning with the CAI program on the Database Design. The developed program helped them understand the lesson content better and obtained more knowledge.
