ความสุขเป็นหนึ่งในอารมณ์เชิงบวกที่ประสบระหว่างการเรียนรู้ภาษาที่สอง สะท้อนให้เห็นถึงความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างอารมณ์เชิงบวกที่จะส่งเสริมให้พัฒนาทักษะทางภาษาและสุขภาวะให้กับผู้เรียนและผู้สอน แม้ว่าการศึกษาความสุขในห้องเรียนภาษาอังกฤษจะได้รับความสนใจอย่างมากในระยะหลัง แต่การศึกษาความสุขในการเรียนและการสอนภาษาอังกฤษออนไลน์ยังไม่ได้รับการศึกษาเท่าที่ควร เพื่อเติมเต็มช่องว่างดังกล่าว การศึกษาครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาความสุขของผู้เรียนและผู้สอนภาษาอังกฤษในมหาวิทยาลัยไทย ระหว่างการแพร่ระบาดของเชื้อไวรัสโคโรนา 2019 ซึ่งเป็นรูปแบบการวิจัยแบบผสม (mixed-methods) จากการรวบรวมข้อมูลเชิงปริมาณ (quantitative) โดยทำการเลือกกลุ่มตัวอย่างแบบการสุ่มตามความสะดวก (convenience sampling) จากมหาวิทยาลัยในประเทศไทย จำนวนทั้งหมด 9 สถาบัน ประกอบด้วย ผู้เรียนภาษาอังกฤษในฐานะภาษาต่างประเทศ จำนวน 465 คน และผู้สอนภาษาอังกฤษในฐานะภาษาต่างประเทศ จำนวน 102 คน โดยการวิเคราะห์สถิติพรรณนา (descriptive statistics) และการอนุมานเชิงสถิติ (inferential statistics) ซึ่งผู้เรียนภาษาอังกฤษในฐานะภาษาต่างประเทศได้เข้าร่วมในการสัมภาษณ์แบบการสนทนากลุ่ม (focus group interview) จำนวน 10 คน โดยแบ่งออกเป็นกลุ่มละ 5 คน และผู้สอนภาษาอังกฤษในฐานะภาษาต่างประเทศได้เข้าร่วมการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก (in-depth interview) จำนวน 5 คน ทำการเลือกกลุ่มตัวอย่างแบบการสุ่มตามความสะดวก (convenience sampling) โดยผู้วิจัยใช้วิธีการวิเคราะห์แก่นสาระ (thematic analysis) สำหรับข้อมูลเชิงคุณภาพ (qualitative) ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ระดับความสุขในการเรียนและการสอนภาษาอังกฤษในมหาวิทยาลัยไทยระหว่างการแพร่ระบาดของเชื้อไวรัสโคโรนา 2019 อยู่ในระดับค่อนข้างสูง โดยปัจจัยที่มีอิทธิพลต่อความสุขของผู้เรียนมากที่สุด คือ ความสุขที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการได้รับการสนับสนุนจากครูผู้สอน ซึ่งความแปลกใหม่อาจอยู่ในรูปแบบเนื้อหา เทคนิคในชั้นเรียนภาษาต่างประเทศ และปัจจัยที่มีอิทธิพลต่อความสุขของผู้สอนมากที่สุด คือ ความสุขที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการได้รับการสนับสนุนจากเพื่อนร่วมงาน แม้ว่าผลข้อมูลทางสถิติจะไม่สอดคล้องกับบทสัมภาษณ์ แต่ข้อมูลของการวิจัยแสดงให้เห็นว่าความสุขอาจเกี่ยวข้องกับการมีปฏิสัมพันธ์ที่ลดลงในช่วงการสอนออนไลน์ จากผลการศึกษาดังกล่าวสามารถนำมาปรับปรุงและพัฒนานโยบายและแผนการสอนภาษาอังกฤษออนไลน์เพื่อเพิ่มระดับความสุขในการเรียนรู้และเสริมสร้างสุขภาวะของผู้เรียน เพิ่มความเข้าใจในด้านจิตวิทยาเชิงบวกและแนวทางการเสริมสร้างสุขภาวะของครูผู้สอนและพัฒนาการสอนภาษาอังกฤษออนไลน์ รวมถึงนักวิจัยสามารถนำเครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวัดความสุขในการเรียนและการสอนภาษาอังกฤษออนไลน์ที่ใช้ในงานวิจัยนี้ไปประยุกต์ใช้ในการวิจัยที่มีบริบทที่มีความคล้ายคลึงกัน การนำผลของสารนิพนธ์ไปใช้: ผู้สอนสามารถจัดรูปแบบวิธีการสอนภาษาอังกฤษออนไลน์ให้อยู่ในรูปแบบของมัลติมีเดียเป็นสื่อในการจัดกิจกรรมรูปแบบใหม่ ๆ เพื่อทำให้เนื้อหาการเรียนน่าดึงดูด น่าสนใจ รวมถึงส่งเสริมการสร้างปฏิสัมพันธ์ระหว่างกลุ่มผู้เรียน และสถาบันอุดมศึกษา ผู้บริหาร และหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องควรจัดอบรมการใช้สื่อเทคโนโลยีในการจัดการเรียนการสอนรูปแบบใหม่ ๆ
Enjoyment is one of the positive emotions that language learners and teachers experience. It promotes the development of language skills and the well-being of both learners and teachers. Although enjoyment has gained tremendous attention lately, English language learning and teaching enjoyment in relation to emergency remote teaching have not been well explored. To fill this gap, this study aims to investigate English language learning and teaching enjoyment in Thai universities during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study is mixed-methods in design; that is, the data were obtained using self-report questionnaires and a series of interviews. First, questionnaires were used to collect quantitative data. A sample of 465 tertiary-level English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students and a sample of 102 tertiary-level EFL teachers were obtained through a convenience sampling technique. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics, which were supported by interview data. The research results showed that English language learning and teaching enjoyment in Thai universities during the COVID-19 pandemic was relatively high. The most influential factor of learners’ enjoyment was associated with teacher support, in which novelty was a form of content and technique in foreign language classes. The most influential factor of teacher enjoyment was peer support. Although the statistical results are inconsistent with the interviews, it is evident that teacher enjoyment could be fueled by decreased teacher interaction with peers. The results can be used to improve and develop policies for online language education that promote the enjoyment and well-being of learners and teachers, as well as increase understanding of positive psychology in online learning and teaching. IMPLICATION OF THE THEMATIC PAPER: Teachers can adapt online English teaching methods to form multimedia as a medium for organizing new activities to make learning content attractive and exciting, including promoting interaction among learners. Higher education institutions, administrators, and related agencies should provide training on the use of technology media in new teaching and learning management.
