ประสบการณ์ของแม่เลี้ยงเดี่ยวที่มีรายได้น้อย : แนวคิดสตรีนิยม

Abstract

การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาประสบการณ์ของแม่เลี้ยงเดี่ยวที่มีรายได้น้อย และวิเคราะห์ถึงความสัมพันธ์ของระบบทุนนิยมชายเป็นใหญ่ที่อยู่ในชีวิตของผู้หญิงกับประสบการณ์การเป็นแม่เลี้ยงเดี่ยวที่มีรายได้น้อย โดยใช้การวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ แบบสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก ศึกษาประสบการณ์ของแม่เลี้ยงเดี่ยวที่มีรายได้น้อยทั้ง 10 ราย พบว่า 1. สาเหตุของการเป็นแม่เลี้ยงเดี่ยวของผู้หญิงพบว่ามี 5 สาเหตุหลักด้วยกัน ได้แก่ 1) สามีเจ้าชู้นอกใจ 2) สามีบังคับใช้ความรุนแรง 3) สามีไม่รับผิดชอบหน้าที่ของความเป็นสามีและความเป็นพ่อ 4) ผู้หญิงไม่มีอำนาจตัดสินใจเรื่องของเพศสัมพันธ์ การคุมกำเนิดและการมีลูก และ 5) การที่ไม่สามารถทนต่อการถูกกระทำจากบุคคลอื่นได้ 2. แม่เลี้ยงเดี่ยวที่มีรายได้น้อยไม่สามารถหลีกหนีความทุกข์ทั้ง 4 ประเด็นนี้ได้ คือ 1) ทุกข์จากการทำงาน 2) ทุกข์จากรายได้ไม่เพียงพอต่อภาระค่าใช้จ่าย 3) ทุกข์ที่เกิดจากตัวลูก และ 4) ทุกข์จากการถูกกระทำความรุนแรงในหลาย ๆ มิติ เพราะเป็นความทุกข์ที่เกิดจากโครงสร้างของระบบทุนนิยมชายเป็นใหญ่ที่กระทาผ่านความเป็นเพศหญิงและความเป็นชนชั้นที่ตกเป็นรองในสังคมของผู้หญิง 3. ประสบการณ์ของแม่เลี้ยงเดี่ยวที่มีรายได้น้อยจะเป็นความทุกข์หรือความสุขขึ้นอยู่กับอำนาจในตนเองของผู้หญิง แม่เลี้ยงเดี่ยวที่มีอำนาจในตนเองที่เข้มแข็งก็จะสามารถจัดการกับความเป็นแม่เลี้ยงเดี่ยวได้ดี แต่ถึงอย่างไรก็ตามการจัดการกับความเป็นแม่เลี้ยงเดี่ยวของผู้หญิงกลับพบว่าไม่สามารถหลุดพ้นจากอุดมการณ์ที่อยู่ภายใต้ของระบบทุนนิยมชายเป็นใหญ่ได้อย่างแท้จริง ควรขจัดอุดมการณ์เก่าที่ให้อำนาจแก่ผู้ชายเป็นใหญ่ ส่งเสริมให้ผู้หญิงมีอำนาจในตนเอง และรัฐควรเข้ามาจัดการเรื่องงานที่ไม่เท่าเทียมของผู้หญิง ควรเพิ่มข้อกฎหมายที่ทาให้ผู้ที่เป็นพ่อรับผิดชอบภาระค่าใช้จ่ายของลูกอย่างเข้มงวด และจัดสรรสวัสดิการให้เงินช่วยเหลือกลุ่มแม่เลี้ยงเดี่ยวที่มีรายได้น้อยโดยตรง

The objectives of this qualitative research was to study about the experience of low-income single mothers in the patriarchal capitalist system. In depth interviews were conducted to collect data from 10 low-income single mothers in a metropolitan area. The results showed that all women did not want to be single mothers. There were five major issues that made them become single mothers including cheating, violence against women, husbands not taking responsibility for the family, women lacking the power to make decision about their sexuality, contraception and childbearing, and the women not enduring the actions of others. The low-income single mothers experienced suffering in the workplaces, not having enough income for the household expenses, child rearing and multiple violence. They could not avoid these issues because of the patriarchal capitalism which treat women as subordinate to men. The experience of the participants would have been better if they were empowered and they could manage their lives but this was possible because of the ideologies of patriarchal capitalism. Society should eliminate patriarchal ideology, men should take up their role of fathering and being husbands and promoting empowerment of women. The government should seriously address the inequality in the places of work, make family laws strict and also require men to provide for their children and give monetary support directly to the low-income single mothers.
