A review of effective training program for developing evidence-based practice skills among professional nurses

Abstract

Background: Evidence-based practice (EBP) is the potential to handle clinical issues and provide better patient care effectively. The current applying the principles of empirical evidence in practice has little, due to the lack of knowledge, lack of process skills—the problems solved by providing knowledge of evidence-based training to professional nurses. The objective was aimed to review the effective training program for developing evidence-based practice skills among professional nurses. Method: The thematic paper conducted literature searches using Academic Search Complete, Clinical Key for Nursing, Ovid, ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global, PubMed, Science Direct (e-Journals), SCOPUS, and Semantic Scholar from 2010 to 2020. There used the PICO framework to develop the review question, plan the search, and analyze the quality of empirical evidence. Result: 12 studies, the teaching methods of training to foster EBP Skills in professional nurses used include lecture, small group, web-based, flipped-classroom, power-point, mobile, booklet, workshop, case studies, TBL, self-study, presentation, and expert for consultant. The most training method was a small group and lecture (50 and 41.7%, respectively). The time of the training program's average period was 2–3 days, 41.7%. The knowledge topics used in lectures are formatted according to the 5 steps EBP Process. EBP training programs measure attitude/belief, knowledge, and skill (91.7, 75, and 75%, respectively). Six studies after completing the training program, nurses had knowledge, skills, and attitudes significantly higher than before the training program. Conclusions: The EBP training program for professional nurses encourages nurses to had knowledge, skills, and positive attitudes towards using EBP in practice. This helps to correct why nurses use little evidence because of lack of knowledge and lack of skills. The training program should be conducted regularly as a follow-up system and encourage new nurses or non-experience to continue education.

ความเป็นมา: การปฏิบัติตามหลักฐานเชิงประจักษ์ (Evidence-based practice: EBP) เป็นการจัดการปัญหาทางคลินิกและให้การดูแลผู้ป่วยที่ดีขึ้นได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ การประยุกต์ใช้หลักการของหลักฐานเชิงประจักษ์ในทางปฏิบัติในปัจจุบันมีน้อยเนื่องจากขาดความรู้ ขาดทักษะ ซึ่งเป็นปัญหาที่สามารถแก้ไขได้โดยการให้ความรู้เกี่ยวกับการฝึกอบรมตามหลักฐานเชิงประจักษ์แก่พยาบาลวิชาชีพ วัตถุประสงค์ของการศึกษาเพื่อทบทวนโครงการฝึกอบรมที่มีประสิทธิผลในการพัฒนาทักษะการปฏิบัติตามหลักฐานเชิงประจักษ์ของพยาบาลวิชาชีพ วิธีการ: การศึกษาดำเนินการค้นหาวรรณกรรมโดยใช้ Academic Search Complete, Clinical Key for Nursing, Ovid, ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global, PubMed, Science Direct (e-Journals), SCOPUS และ Semantic Scholar ตั้งแต่ปี 2553 ถึง 2563 มีการใช้กรอบแนวคิด PICO เพื่อพิจารณาคำถามการศึกษา ทบทวน วางแผนการค้นหา และวิเคราะห์คุณภาพของหลักฐานเชิงประจักษ์ ผลการศึกษา: การศึกษา 12 เรื่อง วิธีการสอนการฝึกอบรมเพื่อส่งเสริมการใช้หลักฐานเชิงประจักษ์ในพยาบาลวิชาชีพ ได้แก่ lecture, small group, web-based, flipped-classroom, power-point, mobile, booklet, workshop, case studies, TBL, self-study, presentation และผู้เชี่ยวชาญที่ปรึกษา วิธีการฝึกอบรมส่วนใหญ่คือ small group และ lecture (ร้อยละ 50 และ 41.7 ตามลำดับ) ระยะเวลาเฉลี่ยของโปรแกรมการฝึกอบรบคือ 2–3 วัน ร้อยละ 41.7 หัวข้อความรู้ที่ใช้ในการบรรยายจัดรูปแบบตาม กระบวนการหลักฐานเชิงประจักษ์ 5 ขั้นตอน โปรแกรมการฝึกอบรมวัดทัศนคติ/ความเชื่อ ความรู้ และทักษะ (91.7, 75 และ 75 ตามลำดับ) การศึกษา 6 เรื่อง หลังจากเสร็จสิ้นโปรแกรมการฝึกอบรม พยาบาลมีความรู้ ทักษะ และทัศนคติสูงกว่าก่อนการฝึกอบรมอย่างมีนัยสำคัญ สรุป: โครงการฝึกอบรมการใช้หลักฐานเชิงประจักษ์สำหรับพยาบาลวิชาชีพ ส่งเสริมให้พยาบาลมีความรู้ ทักษะ และทัศนคติที่ดีต่อการใช้หลักฐานเชิงประจักษ์ในการปฏิบัติ สิ่งนี้ช่วยแก้ไขสาเหตุที่พยาบาลใช้หลักฐานเชิงประจักษ์น้อยเนื่องจากขาดความรู้และขาดทักษะ ควรจัดโปรแกรมการฝึกอบรมอย่างสม่ำเสมอ เพื่อเป็นระบบติดตามผลและส่งเสริมให้พยาบาลใหม่หรือไม่มีประสบการณ์ได้ศึกษาต่อเนื่อง
