เจาะลึกสถิติการใช้ทรัพยากรสารสนเทศแบบบูรณาการ

Abstract

หอสมุดและคลังความรู้มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดลได้ดำเนินการรวบรวมสถิติการใช้ทรัพยากรสารสนเทศทุกประเภทผ่านระบบห้องสมุดอัตโนมัติ Sierra (Sierra) ในส่วนของการยืมออกจากห้องสมุดเท่านั้น ทั้งนี้ยังขาดสถิติส่วนของการยืมต่อ และการหยิบใช้ภายในห้องสมุด ที่ไม่สามารถเก็บสถิติได้ ในส่วนของผู้ปฏิบัติงานจำเป็นต้องเก็บสถิติทุกวันด้วยวิธีการรีวิวไฟล์จากระบบ ทำให้เป็นเหตุให้มีการพัฒนาระบบการจัดเก็บสถิติการใช้งานทรัพยากรสารสนเทศทุกประเภท จากการนำข้อมูล Circulation Transaction ของห้องสมุดอัตโนมัติ ด้วยการเขียนคำสั่ง SQL และใช้โปรแกรมภาษา PHP พร้อมทั้งแสดงผลด้วยโปรแกรม Power BI ซึ่งพบว่าวิธีการเขียนคำสั่งSQL สามารถเรียกข้อมูลการใช้งานได้ครบถ้วนทุกรูปแบบ ทั้งการยืมออกนอกห้องสมุด การคืน การยืมต่อ และการใช้ภายในห้องสมุดของทรัพยากรสารสนเทศทุกประเภทและสามารถเรียกดูข้อมูลได้อย่างละเอียด ครบถ้วน สิ่งสำคัญคือลดภาระในการทำงาน ทั้งนี้การนำข้อมูลสถิติการใช้งานมาวิเคราะห์ด้วยโปรแกรม Power BI ทำให้การแสดงผลมีความน่าสนใจ เข้าใจง่าย และสามารถแสดงให้เห็นแนวโน้มการใช้งานทรัพยากรสารสนเทศได้ชัดเจนขึ้นทั้งนี้งานพัฒนาทรัพยากรสารสนเทศสามารถนำข้อมูลไปใช้สำหรับประกอบการตัดสินใจในการจัดหา คัดเลือกทรัพยากรสารสนเทศเข้าห้องสมุดได้

Mahidol University Library and Knowledge Center has only collected information resource usage statistics via automated library system in the check-out section, but there were other statistics that the library cannot collect such as renewal, and internal usage statistics. Accordingly, library staff had to collect them every day by reviewing files from the system. To solve the problem, the library developed the statistics collecting system that included all kinds of library information resource usage from gathering Circulation Transaction data of automated library system by writing SQL, using a server scripting language PHP, and visualizing data in Power BI. The findings showed that writing SQL can retrieve all kinds of usage data completely such as resource check-out, check-in, renewal, and internal usage statistics in detail. Importantly, this system can reduce the workload as well. From analyzing statistics by Power BI, visualization created was interesting, easy to understand, and clearer to show the trend of information resource usage. Collection Development Division can use the statistics to make decisions about information resource acquisition and selection effectively.
