การแปรเสียงวรรณยุกต์ในภาษาไทยถิ่นใต้จังหวัดสงขลาตามตัวแปรอายุและถิ่นที่อยู่ของผู้พูด

Abstract

งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการแปรของระบบวรรณยุกต์และสัทลักษณะของวรรณยุกต์ในภาษาไทยถิ่นใต้จังหวัดสงขลา ตามตัวแปรอายุและถิ่นที่อยู่ของผู้พูด และเพื่อศึกษาแนวโน้มการเปลี่ยนแปลงของสัทลักษณะของวรรณยุกต์ในภาษาไทยถิ่นใต้จังหวัดสงขลาที่จะเกิดขึ้นในอนาคต โดยเก็บข้อมูลจากผู้พูดภาษาไทยถิ่นใต้จังหวัดสงขลา 72 คน จาก 3 กลุ่มอายุ ได้แก่ กลุ่มผู้สูงอายุ กลุ่มวัยกลางคน และกลุ่มวัยรุ่น ที่อาศัยอยู่ใน 8 กลุ่มพื้นที่ จานวน 72 คน ในการวิเคราะห์ระบบเสียงวรรณยุกต์ใช้แนวความคิดเกี่ยวกับกล่องทดสอบวรรณยุกต์ของเก็ดนีย์ (Gedney, 1972) ส่วนการวิเคราะห์สัทลักษณะของวรรณยุกต์ใช้การฟังเป็นหลักและใช้วิธีการทางกลสัทศาสตร์เพื่อใช้สนับสนุนผลการวิเคราะห์จากการฟังให้มีความถูกต้องแม่นยา โดยในงานวิจัยนี้ใช้โปรแกรมวิเคราะห์คลื่นเสียง Praat เพื่อวิคราะห์ค่าความถี่มูลฐาน และนาเสนอสัทลักษณะของวรรณยุกต์ด้วย เซมิโทนสเกล ผลการศึกษาแสดงว่า ตัวแปรอายุมีอิทธิพลต่อการแปรและแนวโน้มการเปลี่ยนแปลงสัทลักษณะของวรรณยุกต์ในภาษาไทยถิ่นใต้จังหวัดสงขลา โดยผู้พูดในกลุ่มวัยรุ่นมีการใช้รูปแปรของเสียงวรรณยุกต์ที่แตกต่างไปจากผู้บอกภาษาในกลุ่มผู้สูงอายุและกลุ่มวัยกลางคน ซึ่งปัจจัยที่มีบทบาทสาคัญต่อการแปรเสียงวรรณยุกต์นี้เกิดจากทั้งปัจจัยภายในและปัจจัยภายนอก ได้แก่ ธรรมชาติของภาษา การออกเสียงวรรณยุกต์ให้ง่ายขึ้น และ การสัมผัสภาษา ในส่วนของตัวแปรถิ่นที่อยู่ของผู้พูดพบว่า ผู้พูดภาษาไทยถิ่นใต้จังหวัดสงขลาทุกกลุ่มพื้นที่ใช้ระบบวรรณยุกต์เหมือนกัน ส่วนสัทลักษณะของวรรณยุกต์มีรูปแปรที่แตกต่างกันออกไปตามถิ่นที่อยู่ของผู้พูด ความแตกต่างของรูปแปรสัทลักษณะของวรรณยุกต์ดังกล่าวทาให้สามารถแบ่งภาษาไทยถิ่นใต้จังหวัดสงขลาออกได้เป็นภาษาถิ่นย่อยได้ 6 ถิ่น

This research aimed to study the tonal variation in the Southern Thai dialect of Songkhla by age group and region and the tendency of tone changes. The data were collected from 3 generations: the youth, the adult and the senior in 8 locations of Songkhla province. The total number of informants was 72 persons. The theoretical framework of this study was based on Gedney's tone box theory (Gedney, 1972). The phonetic characteristics of the tones are based on auditory judgment and confirmed by an acoustic study. In addition, the Praat program was used to analyze the fundamental frequency and the phonetic characteristics were shown in the semitone scale. The study showed that age influenced the tone variation and the tendency of tone change. The youth used the variants of the phonetic characteristics which differed from that of the other two groups. It was also seen that tonal variations were induced by both internal and external factors, namely, nature of language, tonal simplification and language contact. Furthermore, the tone system was found to be the same in all locations. The phonetic characteristics of the tones differ when occurring in different areas and it was concluded that the phonetic characteristics of tones vary by region. It was also established that there are 6 sub-dialects spoken in Songkhla.
