In the modern digital environment, the authenticity verification of electronic documents has been hindered by the proliferation of counterfeit materials and manual verification processes that are time-consuming and prone to inefficiencies. Notably, the advent of Verifiable Credentials (VC) technology presents a paradigmatic solution for representing digital documents in a standardized manner. The self-verifying properties of VC enable individuals to autonomously authenticate digital documents without relying on third-party intermediaries. This study aimed to develop a proof-of-concept that integrated VC within the wallet component of the Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) ecosystem, thereby facilitating the secure storage and management of student transcripts in a verifiable credential format. After successful implementation, comprehensive testing of the program was performed using a suite of critical test scenarios that encompass key functionalities of the holder’s module, including wallet creation, transcript VC issuance, transcript Verifiable Presentations (VP) instantiation, and wallet recovery functionality. Following rigorous testing, we identified a functional implementation exhibiting promising security features and varying runtime across different versions of the cryptographic implementation.
