| dc.description.abstract | Jugular venous oxygen saturation monitoring provides useful information regarding cerebral oxygenation supply and demand. Jugular oximetry can be facilitated by insertion of a catheter by an anesthesiologist or an intensivist. While monitoring neurocritically ill patients to diagnose cerebral hypoxia, jugular venous oximetry can also provide vital information to optimize the relationship between cerebral oxygen demand and supply with the goal to improve patient outcomes. | |
