Abstract
Nowadays, construction cost plays an essential role in various ways. The more accurate of cost estimation and modelling, the less problem happens with cost overrun and extra expenses. Considering the estimation methods for predicting the project cost, top three most popular methods are unit cost, parametric and neural network. Previously, many researchers also studied the cost predicted model by using various computer applications, but none of them used to compare these three methods. From department of rural road database, 44 road projects were compiled, after that the effective cost factors tested with principal component analysis and also have been identified by concentrating the collected data and previous research. Subsequently, the data implementation process was established firstly, with weighted average calculation referred on unit cost method as traditionally, secondly, with regression learner based on MATLAB automated regression training, and lastly, with NN toolbox depended on MATLAB nftool for all simulating the cost models. Moreover, another data composing of 7 road projects were tested and investigated with holdout validation process for these models. Due to this validation, the cost models were compared within these methods. Despite that, the developed models were reliable to be used not only the conceptual phase of future rural roadway projects but also the related construction fields can be recovered about the cost model formula. Finally, the research was successfully accomplished with the proposed recommendations on practical application of cost predicted model in roadway construction for government and actual utilization contractor's company.
