(Mahidol University. Mahidol University Library and Knowledge Center, 2024) Leab, Kong, 1993-; Visith Chavasit; Varongsiri Kemsawasd
The major public health problem in Cambodia is inaccessibility of safe drinking water. People therefore must rely on bottled drinking water, especially the 20-liter pack size. Consequently, Cambodian officers must increase their knowledge on production processes and hazard control. In this study, the training material was developed based on the Codex Alimentarius's guideline (CODEX) and related researches. A 2-day lecture attended by 50 participants was conducted. They were pretested for their basic knowledge and post-tested after the lecture. After the lecture, 16 plants were audited by an expert and the trainees. The training tool's efficiency was then evaluated based on performance in the post-test and auditing. Results revealed that post-test scores were significantly higher (p ? 0.05) than those of the pre-test in all parts. Scores 39 out of 73 audits of the trainees were not significantly different from those of the expert. The auditing performance was significantly correlated with posttest score, trainee affiliation, location of the affiliation, and the GMP status of the plant (p ? 0.05). The post-test score and auditing performance indicated that passing score for the post-test should be 60%. The training tool was efficient which could assist the officers in monitoring the quality and safety of drinking water in future.

(Mahidol University. Mahidol University Library and Knowledge Center, 2009) Argenal, Amy Marie; Nishikawa Yukiko This research is an examination of human rights and peace as they are implemented through educaiton. It examines current practices in both fields and identifies gaps existing between them. It attempts to bring the two fields together through a Participatory Action Research project conducted with Nepali youth at a school in Kathmandu Nepal. Through the project conducted in Nepal the youth worked on issues of discrimination child abuse and drug addiction as a way to implement values taught through human rights and peace. The process encouraged the youth to participate and take action in their community and help connect theories to social realities that Nepali youth at HVP face. The right to education as guaranteed in various human rights treaties specifically stresses the importance of education instilling values of peace and respect for human rights. In order to properly do this curriculums of human rights and peace education must be implemented and should be connected with each other. Theoretically human rights education and peace education remain two separate pedagogies human rights focusing on international standards and peace on theories related to conflict resolution and negotiation. This research looked at how youth are able to connect human rights and peace through the values behind them and the necessity for peace and the respect of human rights to lead a good life. It showed the importance for human rights and peace in education and how engaged the youth were in this project.
