We developed a microarray platform by immobilizing bacterial 'signature' carbohydrates onto epoxide modified glass slides. The carbohydrate microarray platform was probed with sera from non-melioidosis and melioidosis (Burkholderia pseudomallei...) individuals. The platform was also probed with sera from rabbits vaccinated with Bacillus anthracis spores and Francisella tularensis bacteria. By employing this microarray platform, we were able to detect and differentiate B. pseudomallei, B. anthracis and F

© 2016 The Authors. In this study, protein microarrays based on sandwich immunoassays are generated to quantify the amount of alpha fetoprotein (AFP) in blood serum. For chip generation a mixture of capture antibody and a photoactive copolymer... consisting of N,N-dimethylacrylamide (DMAA), methacryloyloxy benzophenone (MaBP), and Na-4-styrenesulfonate (SSNa) was spotted onto unmodified polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) substrates. Subsequently to printing of the microarray, the polymer and protein were

and O-antigen saccharides of lipopolysaccharide). A polysaccharide microarray platform was developed by immobilizing these polysaccharides onto glass slides. Employing this microarray, we were able to demonstrate the presence of antibodies... to these polysaccharide antigens in the sera of melioidosis patients, but not in serum from nonmelioidosis human subjects. The advantages of this polysaccharide microarray technology over the conventional tests for the serodiagnosis of melioidosis are discussed. Copyright

or other malformations. Growth and developmental milestones were within normal ranges. We performed short tandem repeat (STR) and single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) microarray analyses to attempt to identify the mechanism underlying the chimerism...% by SNP microarray analysis. Four years later, the percentage of trisomy 21 cells had decreased to approximately 6%. SNP microarray and STR analyses revealed a single maternal and double paternal genetic contribution to the patient for the majority

pathogenic H5N1 viral isolations were collected from different areas of Thailand between 2003 and 2006, and were used for analysis of H5N1 genotypic testing with a semiconductor-based oligonucleotide microarray. All H5N1 samples and H1N1, H4N8 negative....89). Semi-conductor-based oligonucleotide array and oligonucleotide probes corresponded well when detecting H5N1. After fully correcting the subtype from the result of microarray signal intensity, the microarray output method combined with bioinformatics

virulent (R272), that were identified from the Vancouver outbreak. By expression microarray analys is, 202 genes showed at least a 2-fold difference in expression with 108 being up- and 94 being down-regulated in strain R265 compared with strain R272... in the regulation of mitosis and ergosterol biosynthesis were suppressed. In vitro phenotypic studies and transcription analysis confirmed the microarray results. Gene disruption of LAC1 and MPK1 revealed defects in melanin synthesis and cell wall integrity

Background: Kidney stone disease (KSD) is a complex disorder with unknown etiology in majority of the patients. Genetic and environmental factors may cause the disease. In the present study, we used DNA microarray to genotype single nucleotide... polymorphisms (SNP) and performed candidate gene association analysis to determine genetic variations associated with the disease. Methods: A whole genome SNP genotyping by DNA microarray was initially conducted in 101 patients and 105 control subjects.
