Waag; U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases; National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases; Mahidol UniversityWe developed a microarray platform by immobilizing bacterial 'signature' carbohydrates onto epoxide modified glass slides. The carbohydrate microarray platform was probed with sera from non-melioidosis and melioidosis (Burkholderia pseudomallei...) individuals. The platform was also probed with sera from rabbits vaccinated with Bacillus anthracis spores and Francisella tularensis bacteria. By employing this microarray platform, we were able to detect and differentiate B. pseudomallei, B. anthracis and FPublication Metadata only Fabrication of protein microarrays for alpha fetoprotein detection by using a rapid photo-immobilization process(2016-03-01) Sirasa Yodmongkol; Boonsong Sutapun; Verayuth Praphanphoj; Toemsak Srikhirin; Thomas Brandstetter; Jürgen Rühe; Mahidol University; Suranaree University of Technology; Rajanukul Institute; Universität Freiburg im Breisgau; Medical Genetics Center© 2016 The Authors. In this study, protein microarrays based on sandwich immunoassays are generated to quantify the amount of alpha fetoprotein (AFP) in blood serum. For chip generation a mixture of capture antibody and a photoactive copolymer... consisting of N,N-dimethylacrylamide (DMAA), methacryloyloxy benzophenone (MaBP), and Na-4-styrenesulfonate (SSNa) was spotted onto unmodified polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) substrates. Subsequently to printing of the microarray, the polymer and protein werePublication Metadata only Application of polysaccharide microarray technology for the serodiagnosis of Burkholderia pseudomallei infection (melioidosis) in humans(2008-01-01) Narayanan Parthasarathy; David DeShazer; Sharon J. Peacock; Vanaporn Wuthiekanun; Marilyn J. England; Sarah L. Norris; David M. Waag; U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases; Mahidol Universityand O-antigen saccharides of lipopolysaccharide). A polysaccharide microarray platform was developed by immobilizing these polysaccharides onto glass slides. Employing this microarray, we were able to demonstrate the presence of antibodies... to these polysaccharide antigens in the sera of melioidosis patients, but not in serum from nonmelioidosis human subjects. The advantages of this polysaccharide microarray technology over the conventional tests for the serodiagnosis of melioidosis are discussed. Growth and developmental milestones were within normal ranges. We performed short tandem repeat (STR) and single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) microarray analyses to attempt to identify the mechanism underlying the chimerism...% by SNP microarray analysis. Four years later, the percentage of trisomy 21 cells had decreased to approximately 6%. SNP microarray and STR analyses revealed a single maternal and double paternal genetic contribution to the patient for the majorityPublication Metadata only An integrated bioinformatics approach to the characterization of influenza A/H5N1 viral sequences by microarray data: Implication for monitoring H5N1 emerging strains and designing appropriate influenza vaccines(2010-12-01) Supaporn Kaewpongsri; Chonlaphat Sukasem; Chutatip Srichunrusami; Ekawat Pasomsub; Julien Zwang; Wantanit Pairoj; Wasun Chantratita; Mahidol University; Shoklo Malaria Research Unitpathogenic H5N1 viral isolations were collected from different areas of Thailand between 2003 and 2006, and were used for analysis of H5N1 genotypic testing with a semiconductor-based oligonucleotide microarray. All H5N1 samples and H1N1, H4N8 negative....89). Semi-conductor-based oligonucleotide array and oligonucleotide probes corresponded well when detecting H5N1. After fully correcting the subtype from the result of microarray signal intensity, the microarray output method combined with bioinformaticsPublication Metadata only Cryptococcus gattii virulence composite: Candidate genes revealed by microarray analysis of high and less virulent Vancouver Island outbreak strains(2011-02-01) Popchai Ngamskulrungroj; Jennifer Price; Tania Sorrell; John R. Perfect; Wieland Meyer; The University of Sydney; Duke University School of Medicine; Mahidol Universityvirulent (R272), that were identified from the Vancouver outbreak. By expression microarray analys is, 202 genes showed at least a 2-fold difference in expression with 108 being up- and 94 being down-regulated in strain R265 compared with strain R272... in the regulation of mitosis and ergosterol biosynthesis were suppressed. In vitro phenotypic studies and transcription analysis confirmed the microarray results.
