Validation of the Thai Version of ICIQ-VS (International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire -Vaginal symptoms) in Thai Women

Abstract

Objective: To determine the psychometric properties of the Thai version of international Consultation on Incontinence Questionaire-Vaginal Symptoms (ICIQ-VS). Methods: This was a cross-sectional, observation study. Women who attended the urogynecology clinic, whether or not they complaining of vaginal symptoms were enrolled. Participants completed the Thai version of ICIQ-VS before being examined by the gynecologists according to the Pelvic Organ Prolapse Quantification system. About 2 weeks later, the participants who had no treatment returned to the clinic for completion of the retest questionnaire. Results: Eighty-six women with a mean age of 54.4 years were recruited. The final Thai version of ICIQ-VS questionnaire was developed. It demonstrated good psychometric properties (validity and reliability). With regard to the construct validity, there were statistically significant difference between the symptomatic group (ICIQ-VS 5a > 0) and the asymptomatic group (ICIQ-VS 5a = 0) assessed by vaginal symptom score (VSS) (P < 0.001), sexual matter score (SMS) (P < 0.001) and quality of life (QoLS) (P < 0.001). The test-retest reliability was considered moderate to excellent for all questions. Conclusion: The Thai version of ICIQ-VS was successfully validated and could assess the severity of pelvic organ prolapse according to the questionnaire score.

วัตถุประสงค์: เพื่อประเมินคุณสมบัติการวัดทางจิตวิทยาของแบบสอบถาม International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire - Vaginal symptoms (ICIQ-VS) ฉบับภาษาไทย วิธีการ: เป็นการศึกษาแบบสังเกตภาคตัดขวาง ในสตรีที่มาตรวจที่คลินิกนรีเวชทางเดินปัสสาวะและอวัยวะสืบพันธุ์ที่มีและไม่มีอาการทางช่องคลอด โดยอาสาสมัครตอบแบบสอบถาม ICIQ-VS ฉบับภาษาไทย และได้รับการตรวจประเมินภาวะอวัยวะในอุ้งเชิงกรานหย่อนด้วยระบบ Pelvic Organ Prolapse Quantification system โดยนรีแพทย์ อีกสองสัปดาห์ต่อมาอาสาสมัครที่ยังไม่ได้รับการรักษาใดๆ กลับมาตอบแบบสอบถามเดิมอีกครั้ง ผลการศึกษา: สตรีทั้งหมด 86 คน ที่มีอายุเฉลี่ย 54.4 ปี เข้าร่วมงานวิจัย แบบสอบถาม ICIQ-VS ได้รับการแปลและพัฒนาเป็นภาษาไทยฉบับสมบูรณ์ ซึ่งแสดงให้เห็นว่ามีคุณสมบัติทางจิตวิทยาที่ดีในด้านความถูกต้องและความเชื่อถือได้ เมื่อพิจารณาความถูกต้องของการสร้างแบบสอบถามพบว่า มีความแตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติระหว่างสตรีในกลุ่มที่มีอาการ (ICIQ-VS 5a > 0) และสตรีในกลุ่มที่ไม่มีอาการ (ICIQ-VS 5a = 0) ซึ่งประเมินโดยอาการทางช่องคลอด (P < 0.001) อาการเกี่ยวกับเพศ (P < 0.001) และคุณภาพชีวิตทั่วไป (P < 0.001) ความเชื่อถือได้ของแบบสอบถามเมื่อทำซ้ำอยู่ในระดับปานกลางถึงดีมากในทุกคำถาม สรุป: แบบสอบถาม ICIQ-VS ฉบับภาษาไทยได้รับการประเมินความถูกต้อง และสามารถใช้ประเมินความรุนแรงของภาวะอวัยวะในอุ้งเชิงกรานหย่อนได้ดี
