After the intravenous administration of 10-24 mg of tritiated anhydroretinol in aqueous dispersion to rabbits, 12-16% of the dose was excreted in the bile within 10 h as water soluble, n-butanol-extractable highly polar metabolites. Anhydroretinol itself was not found in the bile. Three metabolites were detected by thin-layer chromatography on silica gel G, two with absorption maxima at 333, 349 and 368 nm and one with λ max of 350, 365 and 390 nm. At least one of the former components seems to be excreted as the β-glucuronide. © 1972.en_US
