The results of the combination of L asparaginase and prednisolone for the induction of remission in acute leukemia of childhood were reported. A complete remission was achieved in 12 (75%) out of 16 cases of acute lymphoblastic leukemia within two weeks and in 2 (40%) out of 5 cases of acute myeloblastic leukemia. Serious side effects were few, many biochemical disturbances were observed, but these were well tolerated and reversible. The combination of prednisolone to L asparaginase may reduce the incidence of hypersensitivity reactions.en_US
