Abstract
© 2016 IEEE. In a real-time rescue robot operation, the operator must avoid any mistakes during a mission. Effective robot operation requires the robot is supplied with the sufficient power for the entire duration of a mission. This study addresses battery management for rescue robot operation. Our experience and knowledge on battery management for rescue robots is summarized in this paper as a guideline for new developers. This paper covers the topics of power consumption, battery selection, battery charging/ discharging and battery maintenance.
