Abstract

© 2019 Wolters Kluwer Health, Inc. All rights reserved. Ureaplasma species primarily colonize in the human genitourinary tract and are a cause of nongonococcal urethritis. Rare cases of septic arthritis caused by these organisms have been reported in immunocompromised hosts; however, their pathogenic activity in hosts with competent immune status remains unclear. Here, we report a case of septic arthritis caused by Ureaplasma parvum in an adult immunocompetent male patient diagnosed by 16S rRNA gene sequencing.
