We aimed to examine the biological activity of encapsulated cells after preservation under different conditions which were preservation at −80 °C and cryopreservation. Jurkat cells were encapsulated in polyelectrolytes (PAH or PSS) and in the layer of polyelectrolyte-coated gold nanorods (GNR-PSS). The encapsulation layer and the gold content could be detected after both types of preservation. The viability of encapsulated preserved Jurkat cells were in the range of ∼80–90%. TNF-α secretion was not induced. However, a significant induction of IL-6 levels was detected in encapsulated cells stored at −80 °C. | en_US |
