Abstract
The effects of Mn doping on the properties of lead zirconate titanate (PZT,
52/48) piezoelectric ceramics prepared by auto-combustion of citrate-nitrate gel method compared to the conventional mixed-oxide method were investigated. The PZT and Mn doped PZT precursors obtained from both preparation methods were calcined and sintered at 800℃ for 2 h and 1200 ℃ for 2 h, respectively. The X-ray diffraction patterns of PZT ceramics obtained from both preparation methods showed stability change of phase from tetragonal to rhombohedral structure when the Mn content was increased. In addition, tetragonality (c/a) decreased with increasing amount of Mn. The morphologies of almost all the sintered products showed dense, homogeneous and uniform grain. The grain sizes decreased with increasing Mn dopant content. The ceramics obtained from the mixed oxide method exhibited higher density and volume shrinkage than those obtained from auto-combustion. The density of ceramics was higher than 95% of the theoretical density in most cases. The composition analysis of the ceramics via SEM/EDS and XRF techniques revealed that the Zr:Ti ratio was close to the expected value (52:48). Furthermore, these analysis techniques could also detect the small amount of Mn. According to the high temperature x-ray diffraction (HT-XRD) measurements, the Curie temperature (Te) decreased when the Mn content was increased. The products obtained from auto-combustion of citrate-nitrate gel method produced soft ceramics at high Mn concentrations. It was also observed that the Mn dopant greatly improved dielectric and piezoelectric properties and also provided more squared hysteresis loop than the undoped PZT. Conversely, the Mn doped PZT ceramics obtained from mixed-oxide method had characteristics of hard ceramics, including low kp, low εr, low d33, high Qm, and constricted hysteresis loop.
ในงานวิจัยนี้ได้ทำการศึกษาเปรียบเทียบถึงผลของการเติมแมงกานีสไอออนที่มีต่อโครงสร้างและคุณสมบัติของเลดเซอร์โคเนตไททาเนต (PZT, 52/48) เพียโซอิเล็กตริกเซรามิกส์ ที่เตรียมโดยวิธีการผสมผงออกไซด์และการเผาไหม้ของซิเตรต-ไนเตรตเจล โดยผงของ PZT และ PZT ที่มีตัวเติม Mn ที่เตรียมได้จากทั้ง 2 วิธีได้ถูกนำมาเผาแคลไซน์และเผาซินเตอร์ที่อุณหภูมิ 800°C 2 ชั่วโมง และ 1200 °C 2 ชั่วโมง ตามลำดับ จากการตรวจสอบโครงสร้างโดยใช้วิธีการเลี้ยวเบนของรังสีเอกซเรย์พบว่า PZT เซรามิกส์ที่เตรียมได้จากทั้ง 2 วิธีเกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงเฟสจากโครงสร้างแบบเตตระโกนอลไปเป็นรอมโบฮีดรอลเมื่อปริมาณ Mn เพิ่มขึ้น นอกจากนี้ค่าเตตระโกนอลลิตี้ (c/a) ยังลดลงเมื่อปริมาณ Mn เพิ่มขึ้นโครงสร้างจุลภาคของชิ้นงานที่ได้มีลักษณะอัดแน่น ขนาดของเกรนสม่ำเสมอและมีขนาดลดลงเมื่อปริมาณตัวเติม Mn เพิ่มขึ้น เซรามิกส์ที่เตรียมได้จากวิธีการผสมผงออกไซด์มีความหนาแน่นและการหดตัวที่สูงกว่าเซรามิกส์ที่เตรียมได้จากวิธีการเผาไหม้ของซิเตรต-ไนเตรตเจลความหนาแน่นของเม็ดเซรามิกซ์ที่เตรียมได้ส่วนใหญ่มีค่ามากกว่าร้อยละ 95 เมื่อเทียบกับค่าทางทฤษฎี และเมื่อวิเคราะห์องค์ประกอบหลักของชิ้นงานโดยใช้เทคนิค SEM/EDS และ XRF พบว่ามีค่าอัตราส่วน Zr:Ti ใกล้เคียง 52:48 และธาตุตัวเติม Mn ก็สามารถวิเคราะห์ได้ในปริมาณใกล้เคียงกับที่เติมลงไป จากการศึกษาอุณหภูมิที่มีการเปลี่ยนแปลงโครงสร้างผลึกโดยใช้เทคนิค HT-XRD พบว่าอุณหภูมิคูรีมีค่าลดลงเมื่อปริมาณตัวเติม Mn มากขึ้น การเติมตัวเติม Mn ลงไปในเซรามิกส์ที่เตรียมได้จากวิธีการเผาไหม้ของซิเตรต-ไนเตรตเจลจะทำให้เซรามิกส์ที่ได้มีคุณสมบัติแบบ soft อันได้แก่ ค่า εr, kp, d33 ที่เพิ่มขึ้น แต่มีค่าของ Qm ที่ต่ำลง ส่วน hysteresis loop มีลักษณะเป็นสี่เหลี่ยม ซึ่งผลที่ได้นี้มีลักษณะตรงข้ามกับ PZT เซรามิกส์ที่เตรียมได้จากวิธีการผสมผงออกไซด์ที่เมื่อทำการเติมตัวเติม Mn ลงไปจะทำให้คุณสมบัติของเซรามิกส์เป็นแบบ hard อันได้แก่ค่า εr. kp, d33 ที่ต่ำลง แต่มีค่าของ Qm ที่เพิ่มขึ้น ส่วน hysteresis loop มีลักษณะหดเล็กลงและความเป็นสี่เหลี่ยมลดลง
