Abstract
This study analyzes the saxophone works of Wisuwat Pruksavanich, with a primary focus on the composition “Samila 1994”. The main objectives of the research include: (1) exploring how Pruksavanich integrates elements of traditional Thai music with Western compositional techniques; and (2) examining the effective application of extended saxophone techniques in both teaching and performance contexts. The research methodology combines literature review, music analysis, and practical studies. Through an in-depth examination of pedagogical writings by Londeix, the study systematically develops effective teaching and practical strategies. Special attention is given to the use of musical elements originating from southern Thailand and the interaction between electronic accompaniment and saxophone performance in the composition. This study makes three significant contributions to saxophone pedagogy: First, it proposes innovative teaching methods. Second, it offers insights into the fusion of traditional Thai music with contemporary saxophone techniques. Lastly, it provides practical guidance for saxophone performers and serves as a reference for composers interested in extended saxophone techniques.
