Abstract
A combination of packaging waste and non-biodegradable packaging materials that are harming the environment, along with a desire to be more environmentally friendly, has led to a movement towards sustainable packaging. In addition, the growing popularity of sustainability and the circular economy, as well as the ban on single-use plastic products, have prompted us to find alternative solutions to conventional packaging. This has resulted in the development of sustainable packaging, which offers numerous opportunities in the social, economic, and environmental spheres. This type of packaging is being used in many different products, including various organic products. In recent times, many organic products have come on the market with the aim of achieving a balance between the environment, sustainability, and economy. Therefore, when we buy organic products, we believe that the ingredients used originate organically and that the packaging used is biodegradable. However, still, many organic products on the market are provided in plastic packaging, which is against the sustainability of these products. In this regard, the sustainable packaging of organic products emerges as a crucial issue for developing new and better sustainable solutions. This chapter intends to provide a comprehensive review of sustainable packaging, along with technological innovations in the sustainable packaging of organic products and how they impact consumer behavior.
